According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the danger of rural fires will gradually worsen from now until Saturday, following the rise in maximum temperatures.
Today, Wednesday, the IPMA placed the municipalities of Monchique, Portimão, Silves, Loulé, Tavira and São Brás de Alportel at the maximum risk of rural fire.
North of the Algarve, the IPMA are forecasting maximum temperatures at the weekend of 38 degrees Celsius in Santarém, 37 in Setúbal and 36 in Évora and Beja.
