In an initiative by Movijovem in partnership with CP – Comboios de Portugal, the new “ANDA Knowing Portugal” program promises to take young people who finished secondary education in 2023 and those who will complete it in 2024 and 2025 to travel around our country from north to south, for seven days, free of charge.
Young people included in this program will have access to unlimited train travel, as well as being able to stay overnight in Youth Hostels.
So far, the program has more than 10,000 pre-registered people. The objective of the initiative is to “mitigate socioeconomic barriers and promote mobility, youth tourism and territorial cohesion”. According to NIT , this initiative represents an investment of around four million euros and is scheduled for the academic years 2023, 2024 and 2025. You can sign up for the program here .
Young people who decide to explore the Algarve under this program will be able to travel the entire regional train line, which stretches from Vila Real de Santo António to Lagos. You can also stay overnight for free and include breakfast at the Youth Hostels in Tavira, Faro, Portimão and Lagos.
Young people aged between 12 and 29, in secondary education, can sign up for this card at no associated cost. Among the advantages of the European Youth Card is a 25% discount on all additional train travel with CP, as well as a 20% discount at Youth Hostels.
