An accident involving three vehicles on the A22 motorway in Castro Marim, near the border with Spain, left three people injured yesterday afternoon, one in a serious condition.
The accident between 2 cars and a van, which occurred at 15:44 in the Faro - Spain direction, led to the closure of Via do Infante for about an hour, in both directions, to allow an emergency helicopter to land safely to take the seriously injured 20 year old man to hospital.
The other two slightly injured men, aged 20 and 50, were also transported to hospital, but by ambulance.
The motorway was reopened at around 17:00 in the direction of Spain to Faro, but remained closed in the opposite direction for some time, where the collision occurred, while the accident was investigated by the GNR.
