Lagoa council has begun the project to renovate the Garden of Largo D. João II, in Mexilhoeira da Carregação, with an investment of €739,000.62.
An area of 5,565.00m², the space adjacent to Rua Patrício Júdice, in the Union of Parishes of Estômbar and Parchal will be revonated to create a central square, with multifunctional benches, designed to host various activities and events and open the park to the surrounding area, with new routes and accesses that connect it to the pier and surrounding areas.
A terrace will also be created, with a bar at the northern end, offering a great view over the Arade River and the children's playground. There will also be a new public parking area, next to the pier and a games and recreation area installed, with a maritime themed 4 metre high rope pyramid tower.
A gravel field for playing Petanque will be constructed, plus lanscaping of the gardens with new plant species adapted to the local climate, better drainage installed, water supply and public lighting networks added, and the installation of new urban furniture.
