A 40 year old man was injured yesterday after falling from a cliff on João de Arens beach, in Portimão. The victim was rescued by firefighters and crew members of the Ferragudo Lifeguard Service.
The alert for the accident was received at 1:37 pm Tuesday afternoon, when a member of the public saw that “a man had fallen in a difficult to access area”.
Members of the Portimão Maritime Police, crew members from the Ferragudo Lifeguard Station and the Portimão Volunteer Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, it was found that the victim had luckily fallen onto the sand rather than rock. He was promptly assisted by firefighters and the lifeguard crew, who transported him to the Portimão Marina”, explained the National Maritime Authority.
The victim was then transported to hospital by firefighters, for assessment and treatment of his injuries.
