Temperatures will gradually rise from Thursday until the weekend by around 10 degrees Celsius, with maximums of 40 degrees expected in some regionsof the country.
IPMA meteorologist, Ângela Lourenço say, “after this milder start to the week and even with the occurrence of precipitation and thunderstorms in many places in the north and center of Portugal, we will see a change in weather conditions”.
Today, 13 districts are under a yellow warning due to rain and thunderstorms, influenced by an anticyclone that is expected to position itself north of the Iberian Peninsula and a depression trough coming from North Africa.
“These two centers of action will bring a warmer air mass that will gradually affect the continent from Thursday onwards. By the end of the week we will have high temperatures typical of summer and they should remain until the beginning of next week,” she said.
The Alentejo regions are expected to record maximum temperatures between 35 and 40 degrees and even higher in some areas. “This meteorological situation is characterised by being accompanied by warmer nights. We will once again have, especially in the southern regions and the Algarve, the famous tropical nights on Saturday and Sunday, with the possibility that the beginning of the next week will continue to be hot."
