The new Lacóbriga Family Health Unit (USF) at the Lagos Health Center, which began operating yesterday, means around 7,000 patients will now be assigned a family doctor.
For the chairman of the board of directors of ULS Algarve, Tiago Botelho, “the creation of USF Lacóbriga is a clear sign of the institution's investment in expanding access and continuously improving the provision of healthcare, based on a logic of proximity, continuity and quality”.
The director also emphasizes that “the completion of this project is the result of the commitment of the professionals involved, and the active collaboration with the municipality of Lagos. I would like to express my gratitude to the Mayor, Hugo Pereira, for the support provided throughout the entire process.”
The Lacóbriga USF is made up of a team of five doctors, five nurses and four technical assistants, and is prepared to care for around 9,000 patients. The Unit is coordinated by doctor Andreia Gonçalves Dias.
