The National Republican Guard (GNR) in Lagoa have arrested a 33 year old man for illegally staying in national territory, within the municipality of Lagoa.
Through the Coastal and Border Control Unit (UCCF), the arrest was carried out by military personnel from the Portimão Territorial Immigration Inspection Unit, as part of an inspection operation aimed at better controlling the entry and stay of foreign citizens in Portugal.
GNR soldiers identified the foreign citizen for not having complied with the notification of voluntary departure from the country within the legally stipulated period, verified by consulting available databases, with the support of the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum ( AIMA ).
The man was arrested at the scene, and the facts were immediately reported to the Lagoa Judicial Court, where the case will follow legal procedures to remove the man from Portugal.
