The Judicial Police (PJ) arrested a man suspected of attempted murder on Friday evening, after stabbed a man in the side of the neck.
According to the PJ, the "assailant went to the victim's home, a 54 year old man, knocked on the door, and called out to him." The man recognized the voice, "opened the door, and at that moment, the suspect questioned him about a debt owed to a third party."
"When he told her that he had nothing to do with the debt in question, the attacker, armed with a knife, struck him in the left side of the neck, which would only have resulted in his death if “one of the witnesses present hadn't called the emergency services."
The injured man was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent surgery and had to remain hospitalised due to the severity of his injuries.”
Police said that “relevant evidence was collected, which culminated in the identification and arrest of the 48 year old attacker”.
The investigation is led by the DIAP of Portimão.
