After two occurences last week of young children being swept away by the current, two women were dragged out by the dangerous current yesterday, at the Cacela Velha bar in the Vila Real de Santo António.
On August 8th a 7 year old child had to be saved, then on August 9th, three Spanish children aged between 7 and 10 had to be rescued, all by members of the “SeaWatch” Project after being dragged out by strong currents. One child required oxygen to stabilise them, but the others needed no medical attention.
Yesterday, it was two 40 year old Spanish women who were in danger, luckily detected by members of the Tavira “SeaWatch” Project again, “one woman in difficulty in the water and another who was trying to swim across, being dragged by the strong current," said the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
The women were transported to land, “without the need for medical assistance”.
The National Maritime Authority reinforces the advise against bathing in the Cacela Velha area for the dangers it represents.
