Vegetable producer José Rui Santos, from Paderne, won first prize at the VII International Giant Vegetable Competition – “The Biggest in My Village”, which took place this weekend in Aguiar de Sousa, Porto.
His whopping 857 kilo pumpkin secured him the win, but the Algarve farmer also presented a 69 kilo watermelon and a 12 kilo melon, further cementing his victory.
The competition is promoted by Paredes City Council in partnership with the Aguiar de Sousa Parish Council.
