A week of contrasting weather in Portugal is expected, until September 14th, with the Algarve experiencing unusual temperatures for this time of year.
According to the Meteored website, there will be a cool and unstable start to the week in the Algarve, followed by temperatures well above average from Friday and over the weekend.
The start of the week brought "abnormally" low temperatures, moderate to strong winds, and light rainfall.
Midweek, the passage of a cold front will bring more widespread rain to the North and Center regions of Portugal, with a strong northwest wind across the whole country, keeping temperatures relatively low.
From Thursday, the atmospheric flow changes direction, blowing from the west. This will bring warmer, more humid air, creating a muggy atmosphere. The wind will ease and we will see a gradual rise in air and sea temperature.
On Friday, the sun returns in full force and temperatures will rise significantly, expected to exceed 30°C in Baixo Alentejo and the Algarve.
Over the weekend, especially on Sunday, temperatures in the Algarve could exceed 34°C, abnormally high for mid-September. These conditions could persist, meaning a short heat wave across the Algarve.
