The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) are going to invest around €613,000 in the Arade dam, in Silves.
According to the public tender launched yesterday, September 17th, the construction of a new device for releasing ecological flows from the dam is essential.

A managed release of water from a dam that sustains the health of downstream aquatic ecosystems, such as maintaining biodiversity, sediment transport, and water quality, while still allowing for traditional human uses of the river.
As of September 15, the Arade dam was at 48% of its water storage capacity.
The construction will take approximately 6 months.
