The GNR has named a 20-year-old man as a formal suspect for a hit-and-run incident, along with failure to render assistance, following an accident that left one individual seriously injured in Albufeira.
The Faro Territorial Command of the National Republican Guard (GNR), through its Traffic Accident Investigation Unit, announced that on Tuesday, 13th January, it has formally charged a 20-year-old man with the criminal offences of causing bodily harm and failure to provide assistance.
The charges follow an investigation into the accident involving the collision and subsequent fleeing from the scene, which occurred on 30 November in the city of Albufeira. The incident resulted in serious injuries to a 19-year-old who was riding an electric scooter.
In the course of the investigation, GNR officers carried out a series of inquiries that led to the identification and finding of the vehicle involved, as well as the determination of the criminal responsibilities linked to the act of a serious road traffic offence.
The suspect was later located, identified and formally named as a defendant, and the case has been referred to the Albufeira Judicial Court.
