A British couple were arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) at Faro Airport on Saturday, 28th March, following the execution of two European Arrest Warrants issued by the Cypriot judicial authorities, the Correio da Manhã has reported.
The two suspects, a 63-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, were wanted on charges of money laundering, criminal association, aggravated fraud, and document forgery, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The pair were preparing to board a flight bound for England when they were detained by the PSP’s Foreigners and Borders Unit, the newspaper added.
On Monday, both appeared before the Évora Court of Appeal, which authorised their surrender to the Cypriot authorities.
The British couple will remain in custody until their extradition to Cyprus is carried out.
