British people over the age of 55 are now able to obtain a forecast of what they can expect to receive from their state pension when they retire.
The estimate is based on people’s current National Insurance record.
Previously the service was available only to those already over 60 years old.
State pension ages have changed. People need to check their eligibility if they are male born on or after 6 April 1951 or female born on or after 6 April 1953.
The ability to get a forecast at the age of 55 comes just before new pension freedoms being launched in April.
