Swords at dawn invitation to Nigel Farage

swordduelPolish Prince John Zylinski has challenged the Ukip leader Nigel Farage to a sword duel in Hyde Park because of Mr Farage’s anti-immigration stance.

Mr Zylinski pointed to the heroism of his father Andrew Zylinski who led a victorious cavalry charge against the Nazi invaders in 1939 and saved 6,000 Jews in the process.

While sitting next to a statue of his father and later taking up his sword, Mr Zylinski said said: "I've realised that now what I have to do is to stand up in defence of my people in this country in the UK.

“I’ve had enough of discrimination against Polish people in this country.”

"The most idiotic example I have heard of has been Mr Nigel Farage blaming migrants for traffic jams on the M40."

Mr Zylinski called on Mr Farage to meet him in Hyde Park in central London to resolve the matter "in a way that an 18th century Polish aristocrat and an English gentleman would traditionally do".

The party leader was also offered the alternative of a “duel of words” on TV before the general election.

Mr Farage has declined the challenged and joked: "I've been trying to keep violence out of the election."

The aristocratic Zylinski family fled Poland after the war and took refuge in London where they remain.

"Enough is enough, Mr Farage.

"So what I'd like to do, Mr Farage, is to challenge you to a duel.

"I'm offering a duel, if you agree.

"I would like us to meet in Hyde Park one morning with our swords and resolve this matter in a way that an 18th century Polish aristocrat and an English gentleman would traditionally do.

"Are you up for it, Mr Farage?"

He ended: "Alternatively, if you don't agree, or if your sword is a little bit rusting, Mr Farage, we can meet for a different kind of duel - a duel of words in a TV studio in the run-up to the election.

"I'm up for it, it would be really nice - hopefully you will agree."
