An 18-year-old French holidaymaker died on Saturday after falling from the 6th floor of a tourist apartment block at Praia da Rocha, Portimão.
Emergency services were alerted at 20:17 yesterday but the young woman was declared dead at the scene at the foot of Rocha Tower.
The president of Portimão Council, Isilda Gomes, said that the victim was on vacation with her family and the circumstances in which her death occurred are as yet unknown.
The local bombeiros and a specialist INEM ambulance team were at the scene quickly but the girl showed no signs of life.
A full investigation will be carried out by the Judicial Police.
