Germany warns Balkan migrants to stay home

suitcasesBusGermany is beginning to warn people in the Balkan countries that they have scant hope of gaining asylum in Germany and that they will be charged for the expense of deporting them.

TV ads have been created and will be shown in Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro. Newspaper advertisements will also appear in these areas.

The TV ad shows asylum-seekers and their belongings being placed on a bus in the rain and taken to the airport.

“Quite a few people have believed the false promises of scam artists that it’s easy to stay in Germany and other EU countries as an asylum-seeker and make a lot of money,” says a voice-over.

“Do not ruin yourself and your family financially by being trafficked to Germany. Help develop your homeland economically: use your knowledge and skills there.”

Germany has accepted more migrants than any other EU country, but it can only care for genuine refugees who are in need of international protection.

Until June of this year, 26,250 refugees from Syria applied for asylum in Germany, according to government figures.

At the same time, around 29,747 migrants from Kosovo applied, along with 16,250 from Albania and 13,502 from Serbia.

Most of these people will be denied asylum, but during the application process the country will has to house and feed them.
