Portugal’s airports received 8.8 million passengers in the second quarter of 2013, 4.9% more than in the same period last year, led by Faro which was up 6.1%.
The number of flights increased by 1.4 % in contrast to the negative growth of 3.4 % recorded in the first quarter.
Internal flights accounted for 16 % of passenger traffic and European flights accounted for 61% of the remainder.
From within Europe the British led the field with 17% of the total and Ireland with 16%. As for the movement of cargo and mail these continued their downward trend begun in the fourth quarter of 2010 with a decrease of 2.5 % between April and June 2013.
