It has been reported that George Osborne is planning to announce that capital gains tax will be charged on British property sold by expats.

Women in Portugal do not want more babies

babyMost women (51%) and almost half (46%) of men living in Portugal already have children and do not intend to have any more, according to a survey released today.

The Fertility Survey 2013 conducted by the National Statistics Institute in partnership with the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation was carried out between January 16 and April 15 and was aimed at women in Portugal aged between 18 and 49 years, and men aged between 18 and 54 years old.

Portugal comes last in 'hotels with internet' survey

hotel3Portugal ranks last among the 35 countries surveyed to see if they provided internet access for guests in their hotel rooms, according to a report released by hotel booking website Trivago.

Portugal’s low percentage (45.21%) showed that fewer than half of its hotels provided guests with this travel essential.

First on the list is the USA where 90% of the hotels surveyed provided internet in guests’ rooms.

São Brás continues redevelopment

saobrasSão Brás council is continuing its crowd-pleasing municipal works campaign as it announced €100,000 is to be spent on improving Parque da Vila in “another step in the city's urban renewal strategy.”

This project follows on from the first phase to develop the area surrounding the bus station. This is a "100 % accessible park," reflecting "the effort and investment" of the municipality in implementing the municipal plan."

Strays on Faro Island to be studied and sterilised

catFaro Council and Animais de Rua, an association dedicated to controlling stray animals by neutering and spaying, are in a new partnership with a project to sterilise, treat and study stray animals in the municipality of Faro.

An initial survey took place between 21 and 24 November to trace the entire animal population located on Faro Island which is a problem area and is the target for the first campaign.

More female millionaires in Portugal

yachtPortugal has the highest percentage of women millionaires in the world.

Only 10% of all the multimillionaires in the world are women, and Portugal heads the list of countries by having 23.8% of the Portuguese multimillionaire population.
