EU States club together on buying military equipment - value for money and less bribery

submarineWith the UK due to leave the European Union, the remaining member states have advanced with a unified plan to integrate military funding, weapons development, and the deployment of European defence forces.

The UK always has opposed this sort of cooperation but with Brexit looking and pressure from the US, whose president has accused EU countries of not paying their fair share to support NATO, the unified plan is going ahead and may well hurt American defence suppliers.

Norwegian found dead in Pêra - an attack is not ruled out

armacao2A Norwegian man has been found dead in an apartment in Armação de Pêra, Silves. The 69-year-old visitor was staying at the home of a Swedish friend.

Leading up to, and at the entrance of the apartment building, traces of blood have been found but the police are remaining tight-lipped over the most likely cause of death.

Golden Visa trial starts - "I was just trying to help Chinese friends"

The European Commission's anti-fraud office has detected "serious irregularities or even frauds in the management of European funds" in projects submitted or carried out by Tecnoforma.

Tagus - Environment Minister sees 'no dead fish'

Stating that it is no use measuring water flow when there is a drought, the minister did suggest that daily, rather than weekly, measurements should be taken as Spain varies the amount of water released – “Portugal must negotiate with Spain accordingly,” said the minister.

Portimão - EN125 Arade bridge closure dates

aradeRoad works on the EN125 means that road traffic over the bridge over the Arade river at Portimão will be diverted on 14, 16 and 21 November.

The bridge will be closed to traffic several times a day, but only for brief periods of around ten minutes each.

Odemira - baby found in ditch dies at the scene

The authorities were called at 11:50 this on Monday morning after a mamber of the public spotted the newborn near the ​​Boavista dos Pinheiros residential area.

Eurovision 2018 to cost Portugal €23 million
