VIP Taxpayers List had 'political endorsement'

nuncioThe accusations are flying in the VIP Taxpayers List scandal as Paulo Ralha, the taxpayers union boss, said today that of course there was a list and that it was drawn up by senior officials and had "political endorsement."

Paul Ralha added that the Secretary of State for Fiscal Affairs, Paulo Nuncio, (pictured) is unable to continue in office as he knew about the list and is still denying its existence.

BES collapse - Salgado says it's all the Bank of Portugal's fault

SALGADO2Ricardo Salgado today was heard for the second time by the parliamentary committee investigating the collapse of Banco Espirito Santo.

Stopping well short of any sort of an apology, Salgado ‘regretted’ what happened to customers and workers, and vowed to fight for his honor and that of his family, adding that he it's nothing to do with money.

Golden Visa appeal fails for Anes

The Court of Appeal under Judge Francisco Caramelo today rejected her lawyer’s defense and Anes remains subject to the same conditions as before after she was arrested in November 2014 in the Golden Visa round up of bent state employees.

In a display of willful disobedience the head of the tourist board Desidério Silva did mention these topics, clearly still miffed from having his tourism budget cut despite the fun and success he had had in spending the 2014 allocation.

The application is for a cool €100 million so the council can pay off its long suffering suppliers.

First head rolls in VIP Taxpayers List cover up

financaslogoThe general director of the Tax Authority resigned from office today, saying that there is no VIP Taxpayers List and justified his exit on his own failure to inform the authority on those internal procedures that may have created the perception that this list existed.

In a leaked email sent to the tax staff today, António Brigas Afonso said he resigned because of news reports about the VIP Taxpayers List, which does not exist.
