Let me get straight to the point. If I had to choose between summer in the Algarve or winter… it wouldn't be a choice for me. Give me winter. No sticky heat, no towel-laying war on the beach, and no traffic jams heading to the coast.
Winter means cooler sun, beautiful scenery, peace and quiet, and space. Lots of space.
While it's grey, wet, and cold in the Netherlands, here I often just sit outside. Coat open. Sunglasses on. Coffee in hand. And then I always think the same thing: why doesn't everyone know this?

Let's be honest: yes, it can rain in the Algarve in winter. But no, it's not days of misery like you experience in the Netherlands or Belgium.

An occasional rainy day (and it often goes by quickly)
And you know what's so great? The variety. The sun feels extra good when it's out. And even if it does happen to be a rainy day, you won't be bored for a second. More on that later.
