The motorcycle riders of the Algarve Senior Bikers celebrated the 4th year of the group's existence with a special lunch in Benafim. Two groups, one from the west and one from east met in Lagos and Sao Bras de Alportel and followed different routes across the Algarve to meet in Benafim north of Loule for lunch.
The lead riders were Angus MacNeil starting from Sao Bras de Alportel and David Shirley starting from Lagos.
As well as providing an excellent lunch Manuel the owner of Restaurant O Hamburgo in Benafim displayed his own bikes in the restaurant, including his beautifully restored 250cc BMW from 1961.
Lunch was followed by Birthday Cakes made by Dee Shirley.
Group member Kiss FM,s Sir Owen Gee congratulated David Shirley (who started the ASB in June 2010) on the success of the group, and thanked him and Angus on behalf of all the members for leading the rides. The ASB now has over 130 members and 44 of them attended the lunch.
The next event is being planned by Brian (6th gear) Evans for July 22nd. It will start and end in Sao Bras de Alportel and details will be announced shortly.
