Good golf is high on the list of priorities for many an ex-pat here on the Algarve. Combine that with good food, great company and the opportunity to help the needy and you have the ingredients for a perfect lifestyle.
A week or so ago, a Golf and Charity Lunch at 84 Bistro & Wine Bar produced more than €750 for children’s charity, ACCA, which is raising its profile and following here as an increasing number of supporters come forward to help fund-raise.
Lisl Esterl, a Ladies European Tour golfer and past Solheim Cup winner, together with golf pro Neil Webb, delivered an informative talk entitled Tips from the Tour, and showcased their range of golf/sports clothing.
According to ACCA’s Jenny Harrison: “The food was delicious and there was no shortage of drink top-ups. We raised €500 from the raffle (prizes, sourced by Liz Healey and Lisl included vouchers from hair and beauty salons, health and fitness centres, and also restaurants), €100 commission from the sale of sports clothing, and €175 from 84 Bistro & Wine Bar, who donated €5 for every meal. James Carter was extremely generous giving us a voucher for two at each of his restaurants.”
The monies from this event will go towards ACCA’s Angels programme in which 1,500 needy children will receive a special Christmas gift.
