On the 7th May, Quinta dos Vales was once again honoured at the “XI Concurso de Vinhos do Algarve 2018” winning the Grand Gold Medal and the coveted distinction of “The Best Wine of the Algarve” for the seventh time in the competition's short history, and totalling also 12 other Gold medals alongside the prestigious award.
The “Grace Vineyard” red 2012 was this year's biggest winner – winning the Grand Gold Medal and the title of “The Best Wine of the Algarve”. Another 3 Gold medals were also awarded to the Estombar winery's “Marquês dos Vales” wines for the “DUO” red 2015, the “Grande Escolha” red 2014 and the newly released monovarietal “Grace Touriga Franca” red 2015, while the “Grace Syrah-Viognier” red 2015 and the new “Selecta” rosé 2017 were awarded Silver medals.
The competition was organized by Comissão Vitivinícola do Algarve in association with Câmara Municipal de Silves and Associação de Escanções de Portugal, who organized the jury which consisted of highly respected experts in the field of wine.
Quinta dos Vales' record in the competition, winning the Grand Gold Medal seven times in eleven years, confirms that their approach and efforts are appreciated and that the “Marquês dos Vales” wines continue to excite wine connoisseurs, professional and amateurs alike.
Karl Heinz Stock, the wine estate's manager, said: “The results of the latest competition show us that we are still on the right track, with our philosophy to produce non-artificial high quality wines, and that our unique wines will continue to be recognized amongst the best of Portugal.”
