Olhão Council will mark the National Day of the Sea, on November 16, with a seminar entitled, ‘The Sea Sector in Olhão and the Algarve - Threats and Opportunities.’
The initiative, which takes place in the Council's municipal auditorium from 14:30 hours, is arranged by the Council’s Gabinete de Apoio ao Empresário (Office of Support to the Entrepreneur).
António Miguel Pina, the Mayor of Olhão and Alexandra Teodósio, vice-rector of the University of Algarve, will attend the opening session of the meeting, which also will be attended by the manager of the Mar 2020 Operational Programme, Teresa Almeida.
The subject covers the projects planned for the Algarve and specifically those that include Olhão's sea-related businesses.
During the afternoon, businessmen connected to the fishing industry and the sea will give their views on the various subjects under discussion.
Participants inlcude Jorge Ferreira (Conserveira do Sul), Jorge Dias (Sparos), João Navalho (Necton), João Bastos (SunConcept), Francisco Antão (Algarfresco), Marta Rocha (Cooperativa Formosa), Rui Moreira (Bivalvia), Miguel Cardoso (Olhãopesca ) and Rui Roque (Nautiber).
The closing of this session, preceded by a debate, is scheduled for 18:30 and will include the mayor of Olhão and the Secretary of State for Fisheries, José Apolinário.
