Portugal’s government has approved amendments to existing laws to help in its planned auction of 1.35 GW of solar capacity.
Minister of Environment and Energy Transition said that he hopes to see €6 billion of investment in solar power by 2030.
Minister João Pedro Matos Fernandes said that such an investment would aid the government’s plans for Portugal’s carbon-neutrality by 2050, with 80% of electricity to be derived from renewable energy sources by 2030.
The government aims to hold an auction for large-scale projects, with feed-in premium tariffs - and an auction for smaller installations, including rooftop PV systems, on a fixed tariff.
Expresso reported that the government may face complaints from photovoltaic park developers who have not yet secured production licences, even though their projects are nearly built.
Comments
CO2 levels dropped dangerously low in the last glaciation to 180ppm that is 30ppm above 150ppm when all plant life dies, perhaps we inadvertently have reversed this trend by burning fossil fuels.
You know that the carbon trading is a scam when the main investors of this scam are the usual suspects big oil!
Whilst they may make economic sense, from an environment-friendly point of view, solar panels are not the way to go. The manufacturing process produces more CO2 than a panel will displace in its lifetime in addition to the many other pollutants created in their production. It is a filthy process.
But, since most panels are produced in "developing countries", these facts are conveniently ignored.
