The president of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) has said that bookings for Easter are above expectations, at a “certainly double-digit” growth rate, even at higher prices.
“We are talking about the Algarve, Madeira and the Azores, but in fact, in Portugal in general demand is already high."
“Booking rates are going well for the first quarter and Easter, at an absolutely unexpected pace”, said Pedro Costa Ferreira, President of APAVT.
Pedro Costa Ferreira explains that the “advance bookings” that are taking place and the fact that the first quarter of 2022 was still mostly confined due to the covid-19 pandemic justify this “double-digit” sales growth that is taking place in the first months of 2023.
"Portugal is in demand, although, obviously, Algarve has higher demand, as does Madeira. But the Alentejo, the Center of Portugal, the North, are already having reserves way beyond that of 10 years ago”, he explained.
“Nothing is at the same price, prices are consolidated, more expensive because of inflation. And yet, with bookings going very well”, he said.
