The body of the fisherman who disappeared on Wednesday, after going spearfishing with two friends was found on Saturday morning, south of Ponta da Atalaia, in Aljezur.

According to the National Maritime Authority, the body was found following an alert given by the diving team that was collaborating in the search operations, coordinated by the Harbour Master and Local Commander of the Lagos Maritime Police.
Crew members from the Sagres Lifeboat Station, members of the Lagos Maritime Police Local Command and the Maritime Police Forensic Diving Group – Underwater Operations (GMF-OPS) and a drone team from the Aljezur Volunteer Firefighters were involved.
Once the Health Delegate's investigations have been completed and the Public Prosecutor's Office has been contacted, the body will be transported to the region's National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.
The Maritime Police Psychology Office continues to provide support to the victim's family.
According to what was possible to ascertain, the man was practicing underwater fishing, accompanied by two friends, but did not return to land at the agreed time.
The Lagos Maritime Police Local Command took charge of the incident.
