Rents go up in Britain

The average national increase was 2% over the 12 months to July this year, bringing the average monthly rental cost to £753.

Britain receives record number of visitors

New tax regime proposed for British expats

airplaneBritish expats are being urged to review the sources of any income they may derive from the UK in the fact of the proposals made by Chancellor Osborne to deprive non-UK residents of the personal tax allowance.

It is estimated that 175,000 expats get an income from property in the UK. They, as well as pensioners, could be affected by the proposed changes.

Salgado lied to the Brazilians

oiKey shareholders at Brazilian telecoms company Oi have accused former BES chief Ricardo Salgado of ‘distorting information’ and have demanded their own review and audit of the proposed merger between Oi and Portugal Telecom.

Oi shareholders accused the former president of BES of sending an email containing "false assertions about investments," referring to Portugal Telecom’s €897 million investment in BES Group’s subsidiary Rioforte.
