The average in the eurozone was 11.9% and has been roughly the same over the course of the twelve months to February 2014.

Loulé council offers fee exemptions for city centre renovation

louleLoulé council has granted a reduction in various fees to the owner of a building located in the old town which is in acute need of renovation.

The building, located in the Special Protection Zone, sits against one of the turrets of the old city wall and is to be turned into a space dedicated to vocational training and will also house a shared workspace.

€10 million to rebuild and repair Portugal's damaged beach facilities

seasFollowing a public meeting with the owners of businesses affected by the storms that lashed Portugal's coastline in January and February, the Association of Hotels and Restaurants in Portugal (AHRESP) and Tourism of Portugal have announced a fund of €10 million to help rebuild and repair damaged beach establishments.

The funding guidelines have been issued and cover any projects that are for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged beach facilities that offer food and/or drink.

Algarve's healthcare users committee call public meeting in Portimão

The Committee of Users of the National Health Service is leading the meeting at 15.00 at the Alameda de Portimão, "This initiative is intended to give voice to all the people who want to present their testimonies as users of the National Health Service, as well as exchange ideas, information and data" sais a commission spokesperson.

Gaspar to gross 23,000 euros a month at IMF

gasparPortugal's former Finance Minister has shown to be adept at handling his personal finances as his salary at the IMF, where he starts in June, will bring Vítor Gaspar a gross monthly sum of around 23,000 euros.

Gaspar was appointed in late February by Director General Christine Lagarde to the post of Director of Budgetary Affairs at the International Monetary Fund.  It was while directing budgetary affairs in his last job as Portugal's Finance Minister that his performance could be assessed as mediocre, leading to his resignation and a weak goodbye statement.
