Insurers to cover €2 million of Monchique fire claims

FiremonchiquealightInsurance companies have totted up the bill for the Monchique fire and say that €2.1 million of damages has been caused to insured properties and equipment.

The damage was caused by the fire that broke out to the north of Monchique and swept northwards into the Odemira municipality and south, past the county town and onwards to areas in the the Silves and Portimão municipalities.

Odeleite river beach finally approved - EC funding safeguarded

Complaint lodged in Brussels over Montijo Air Base conversion

airplaneEnvironmental association, ZERO, has filed a complaint at the European Commission against the Portuguese State regarding the planned conversion of Air Base No. 6 in Montijo, into a commercial airport.
 
The basis of the objection is the government’s non-compliance with its own Strategic Environmental Assessment legislation during the decision-making process for the construction of a new commercial airport at Montijo, to take the pressure off Lisbon International Airport.
