Map and mobile app launched to help discover 'Wines of the Algarve'

In addition to this map, Carlos Gracias, president of the CVA, said that a smartphone app will be launched at the same time, “which will allow the consumer to have access to specific information about the region, and also to locate the nearest point of sale or restaurant with Algarve wine on the shelf.”

Government creates State-owned forest management company

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development announced to parliament on Tuesday that "the government has decided and will have an allocation in this State Budget, to create a public company for forest management. We want the state to advance, to set an example and to have a more proactive attitude that demonstrates to society that it is possible to manage forests under a new system."

Minister apologises

Algarve rakes in the tourist cash

tourismPortugal’s National Institute of Statistics and the region’s tourist board agree on one thing, the number of tourists visiting the Algarve this year has been record-breaking with a September figure of 2.3 million overnight stays boosting the year’s total.

The September increase is up 2.3% in terms of the number of nights spent in the region but tourists are spending more, or being charged more, with receipts up over 10% on last year as hotels took in €138 million.
