New rail service for tourists in retro '40s-style carriages

CPDouroMiradouroPortugal’s rail service company, Comboios de Portugal, is following the ‘retro’ trend sweeping through the transport industry by converting some old carriages into a 1940s-style travel experience.

The carriages were in use between 1949 and 1977 and have been restored by the rail company to start a 'time travel' service from Oporto’s São Bento station to Tua in Bragança along the picturesque Douro valley.

SIRESP, a private company that manages the state's emergency communications network, says that "there was no interruption in the operation of the network" nor "was there any station that was left without service as a result of the fire" that killed 64 people.

Fatal accident on the EN125 leaves the Arade bridge littered with wreckage

The victims of this violent punishment were aged between 18 and 35 and were found by the anthropologist, Teresa Fernandes, of the University of Évora during "excavations carried out in 2001 in the medieval necropolis of Rossio do Marquês de Pombal, in Estremoz which dates from the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries."

$11 billion in missing Venezuelan oil money handled by Banco Espírito Santo

oilrig2Portugal’s  authorities are investigating the alleged theft of funds that belonged to Venezuela’s state-owned  oil company PDVSA.

The missing money was channelled through Banco Espírito Santo between 2009 and 2014 - the year in which the bank went bust.
