Loulé agrees local grants but insists on proper reporting

louleLoulé council has set aside €165,000 for local cultural and arts associations but mayot Victor Aleixo insists that the money is accounted for correctly using new council guidelines.

Silves mayor wants multi-million loan for 'essential works'

The council wants the money to carry out 17 projects and the mayor believes that the use of a loan is the wisest way to fund the "indispensable" work in the Silves council area.

Migrant flow reaches 50,000 in Italy alone this year

The latest arrivals resulted from rescues on Saturday from 15 boats which had set out from the failed state of Libya. On Sunday, at least 14 more rescue operations were conducted.

TAP bids may not be high enough

Algarve - British kite-surfer seriously injured

kitesurfingA kite-surfer has been seriously injured in an accident at the Ria do Alvor between Lagos and Portimão.

The accident happened on Sunday afternoon as strong winds swept across the Algarve and caught the kite-surfer off guard, causing him to lose control of his kite and fall onto rocks causing him serious injury.
