The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (Etias) had been due to "become operational by the end of 2021", but the introduction of visa-style fees and forms for British travellers visiting EU countries has been delayed until 2023.
There is no conclusive decision yet as to whether Brits will require a visa to travel to the EU, and vice versa for Portuguese nationals. A valid passport should be all that’s needed, between 2021 and the start of 2023, but only time will tell as the negotiations progress.
