This series takes place in the village of Santa Luzia in Portugal. Hidden along the south coast, overlooking the Gulf of Cadiz, the humble community of Santa Luzia seem somewhat distant from the rest of the Western world by embracing their traditional roots and rebuking technological advances.

The result of its sheltered position means this Portuguese village is a time warp of 17th century churches, bright azulejo tiled walls and sleepy residents.

On 19th June, 50 delegates from all over Europe will gather at the Cinémathèque française in Paris to discuss the future of film education in Europe. The event marks the launch of A Framework for Film Education in Europe, which establishes a set of ambitions and outcomes for people learning about film that all educators can aspire to. The Framework was funded from the Film Literacy strand of the action on Audience Development, as part of the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme.

Something strange emerges from the seawater at the marina in Faro. In fact, two sculptures that have spent decades forgotten in a corner of a council warehouse now can be seen in permanent exhibition at the Faro waterfront.

One is of a female figure, a sort of water nymph, with a shell shaped head and now seated on the steps of the old port in front of the hotel EVA. The other one is based on a whelk and is set on a temporary concrete base at the wharf.

I come to Portugal every year to get away from city life, my parents have a place just outside the town of Loulé, in a tiny little village called Poco Novo. It’s a really remote location as it was an old derelict farmhouse at one time.

Iam 24 years old, and live in London. Being so cut off here gives a real time to reflect on things - there is no internet, TV etc. so it is sort of like being away from the modern age. As much as there is lots of tourism in surrounding areas  -Vilamoura, Vale de Lobo etc. - being so close to a quintessential Portuguese town such as Loulé really opens your eyes to what it’s like to be a citizen here.
