Barroso snipes at Cameron as 'UK loses its European influence'

barrosoJosé Manuel Barroso, the former President of the European Commission considers that the British influence in the European Union has declined to the point that London has ceased to be the link between Brussels and Washington.

Barroso also warned the British Government that a possible exit from the EU would be a real mistake.

New income tax deductions for 2015

financaslogoFrom January 1st, 2015 when working out your tax returns, only invoices that include your tax number (NIF) will be accepted by the taxman, according to the director general of the tax department, António Brigas Afonso.

Afonso said that taxpayers should always ask suppliers for invoices that include their tax number if they want later to submit them as legitimate expenses when working out income tax.

GNR set up check points at popular New Year venues

accident125The GNR’s ‘Ano Novo Seguro’ operation starts today until January 4th as the police patrol roads and set up roadside inspection points - specifically on the routes to and from popular sites hosting New Year’s Eve festivities - ‘in order to prevent road accidents.’

According to the GNR website, throughout the operation there will be a total of 6,572 officers out and about to keep us safe.

Chill New Year's eve but warmer weather by the weekend

The yellow warning stays in force for much of mainland Portugal but the temperatures will start to rise from Saturday.

The mayor is trying to reach some sort of settlement over the upset caused by Olhão’s very own Berlin Wall – the name given to the barrier erected by the national railway company that has cut Olhão in two.
