SEF boss 'has no money' for a lawyer in Golden Visa case

PALOSThe former Director of the Aliens and Borders Service (SEF) has asked for the financial help of the SEF union as he claims to have insufficient funds with which to pay a lawyer to defend himself.

Manuel Palos is charged with two counts of accepting bribes for illegal acts in the Golden Visa corruption scandal and has been under house arrest since November 18, awaiting a trial date.

Madeleine inquiry questioning extended

Wall is taking over Operation Grange from Andy Redwood (pictured) and she will be leading the team responsible for the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in 2007.

Swiss boy dies in west coast dune accident

caravhalbeachA 10-year old Swiss boy has died in a tragic accident after being buried in sand while playing at a west coast beauty spot.

The boy and his younger brother were playing in the dunes at Carvalhal Beach, between Odmeira and Aljezur, when a tunnel that they had dug collapsed, trapping the boy under the sand.

Portugal's exports up 9.4% in October

October’s exports of goods increased 9.4%, the largest annual increase of 2014, with factories invoicing €4.638 billion. The imports of goods into the country increased just 1.2% enabling the overall balance of trade for the year to decrease by €190 million.
