Waitrose products now available in Faro and Portimão

waitroseTop UK supermarket Waitrose has announced a new export deal with European retailer Auchan to sell groceries in Portugal through selected Jumbo and Pão de Açucar supermarkets.

The retailer said close to 100 grocery and chilled products will be available in six stores in Lisbon and in the Algarve in Faro and Portimão.

Tourism figures up, but the Algarve still lacks healthcare cover

The pair were commenting on the latest data provided by the National Statistics Institute for the tourism sector, and Pires de Lima claimed  "the tourism sector is accelerating in Portugal, in May is had an increase of 14.5%."

Births numbered 698,512 in 2013, a fall of 4.3%, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The leaders of the five countries have signed a deal to create a new development bank and emergency reserve fund, worth another $100bn.

Private rescue mission launched in the Med
