New Apple shop for Faro

appleMarques da Silva (GMS) a reseller of Apple Inc. products is investing €600,000 in a new shop to sell Apple products at Forum Algarve.

André Marques da Silva, a GMS director, commented that "this is the first Apple shop in the south of the country," taking the company’s total to five outlets in Portugal at an overall investment of €3 million.

Shark warnings in Spain and France

bluesharkRare sightings of blue sharks close to the shores in France and Spain have provoked warnings and swimming bans on some popular beaches.

Bans were imposed on beaches in the south of France and Corsica for several days after a number of sharks were spotted close in. Six beaches near Barcelona had been closed for the same reason, but have now reopened.

Commies call for parliamentary visit to Algarve's creaking health service

"The healthcare provided to the Algarve's population, both in terms of hospital care, and in terms of primary care, has deteriorated over the years as a result of the policy pursued by successive governments’ attacks on the National Health Service," according to a statement from the party.

Salazar’s old house up for sale

Salazar moved in to the top notch Lisbon property in 1933, the same year the Estado Novo, or New State, was established.

Bank of Portugal warns banks exposed to Espírito Santo fallout

bop2The Bank of Portugal has instructed Portugal’s banks to make a provision of 50% on any unsecured exposure to the Espírito Santo Group.

The central bank, led by Carlos Costa, sent his edict as the Espírito Santo Financial Group last week joined Rioforte and Espírito Santo International in applying for protection from its creditors under the laws of Luxembourg.

Action urged on stolen mobile phone costs
