earthquakeAn earthquake of magnitude 3.2  on the Richter scale with an epicenter offshore, about 55 miles south-southeast of Vila Real de Santo António, was felt and registered in Seismic Network Stations across Portugal at 22.26 on Sunday night.

The new facilities, created by English Heritage, were opened three weeks ago. The new layout was planned for people to be able to visit the site without the interruption of nearby car parking and road traffic.

Over 20,000 people need food aid in the Algarve

fome5For those that think the crisis is over, think again as the staggering level of dependency on food aid charity in the Algarve is laid bare by a report from Food Bank Against Hunger.

Between 22,000 and 25,000 people are in need of food aid in the Algarve, according to the latest estimate by Nuno Alves, the head of the Food Bank in the Algarve region, which already supports 16,000 poor people through 70 institutions.

The explosive letter has been signed by 183 of the 220 specialists from the hospitals in Faro, Portimão and Lagos, some 80%.

Portas wants to live in a ‘normal country’ after May

At the conference Portas was re-elected leader of the CDS with 85.93 % of the votes.

Portugal counters essential honeybee decline in Europe

beeScientists believe that more than half the nations in Europe do not have enough honeybees to pollinate crops.

Instead, pollination is being done by so called ‘wild pollinators’ such as bumblebees, solitary bees and hoverflies.

Honey bees are said by researchers to be responsible for pollinating around one-third of the world's crop production.
