The Government have announced they will "extend the rules currently in force" in the fight against the pandemic in the continental territory, within the scope of the new state of emergency extended until January 15th.

It is being reported that the world is now facing the deadliest period of the coronavirus pandemic so far. The five worst days in terms of global Covid-19 deaths all came within the past 10 days, according to data from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA.

Portugal has already received more than 140 thousand doses of the vaccine against Covid-19, almost half of which has already been distributed and, of these, 32 thousand have already been administered, revealed the Minister of Health, Marta Temido today.

The meteorologist from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) have said that a yellow warning has been issued for all 18 districts of the continent.

Sonia Azevedo, a 41 year old assistant from the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Porto died on January 1st, just two days after being vaccinated against Covid-19. The cause of death is still unknown, but many newspapers are  implying the two events are linked.

The number of cases reported over the past 14 days will raise Tavira municipality to Extremely High Risk Covid-19. It is the worst result so far during pandemic, and puts Tavira as one of the highest Covid-19 risk levels in the country.

An Italian woman was found dead along with an injured man, this Saturday, inside the womans house in Olhão. The circumstances are suspicious.

The restrictions on movement between municipalities, put in place by the government, comes into effect at midnight tonight, Wednesday 30th December, meaning restrictions are in place all day Thursday 31st December until 05:00 hrs on Monday 4th January 2021. This is for all municipalities in mainland Portugal.
