A 24-year-old man has been left in a coma after being shot in the head with a shotgun in the early hours of Monday morning in São Bartolomeu de Messines, in the municipality of Silves. The shooter, believed to be around 20 years old, has been arrested by the Judiciary Police.

Portugal authorised the United States to use the Lajes Air Base in the Azores, but only after being informed of a military intervention and subject to specific conditions, Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel has revealed in an interview with CNN Portugal.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested and formally charged with the “commission of the crimes of discrimination and incitement to hatred and violence, public incitement to homicide, public endorsement of a crime, unlawful recordings and possession of a prohibited weapon”, after allegedly sharing a social media post urging violence against a group of foreign nationals, in this case, Brazilians.
