Death rate on Portuguese roads drops significantly

inemLast year more than 26,000 people throughout the European Union were killed as a result of driving accidents, according to Eurostat.

Although that figure is high, the number of fatalities on EU roads has been falling significantly every year for the last two decades.  In 1995 nearly 64,000 people lost their lives because of negligent driving.

Angela Merkel aims for another four years as German Chancellor

Speaking after meeting centre-right CDU party officials, Merkel staid, "I literally thought about this decision endlessly but I am ready to run for office again."

Wet Algarve weekend continues through Monday

In Friday's warning, the National Civil Protection Authority warned of high seas until the end of Saturday morning on the north and central coast and in the Lisbon region, with four metre waves.
