Nature organisation to help solve lynx poisoning case

lynx2Portugal’s League for the Protection of Nature (LPN) today announced that it has been asked to assist in criminal proceedings related to the poisoning of an Iberian lynx in March and called for the end of the illegal use of poisons.

"Faced with repeated cases of poisoning resulting in the death of protected and endangered species, the LPN calls for firm action from the public and from the government in the fight against the illegal use of poisons," read today’s statement.

Portugal to save €92 million per year with water reforms

The minister explained that "water rates will be 10% lower and sanitation rates down 16% compared to what was expected."

Portas goes to Bordeaux to promote Portugal's wine exports

Portas stressed the commitment of those Portuguese businessmen who are investing heavily in the industry to support exports with much of the €100 million a year handed to Portuguese businesses in the form of EC grants.

Golden Visa programme at a standstill

LISBONPROPERTYPortugal's real estate agencies association today said that its members fear that many foreign investors may now have chosen to invest in Spain in preference to Portugal.

Estate agents now are complaining of bureaucratic difficulties in the Golden Visa system with Luís Lima of the association APEMIP reporting that it seems the Golden Visa process is frozen.

Portugal scores poorly in new corruption survey

bop2A survey on fraud and corruption conducted by the consultancy Ernst & Young puts Portugal in fifth place in the corruption league of 38 countries, surpassed only by Croatia, Kenya, Slovenia and Serbia.

The survey questioned workers from countries in Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa.
