A significant milestone was recently reached when the Algarve Wednesday Walkers (AWW) celebrated the 20th Anniversary of their foundation.
The Group was founded in 1996 by the late Maurice Clyde who decided there should be a separate section of his already existing Saturday Walkers for those wanting more serious walking.
During a very warm week in August, AAMA (Adapted Motor Activity Association) held its first ever summer camp in the Algarve. Primarily funded by the Rotarian’s Wine Appreciation Fellowship (RWAF), the association was able to provide a day camp to benefit and support the families in the Algarve with special needs children. AAMA is very active in the Lisbon area and is making an effort to expand its area of activities.
Due to the extremely warm weather the ASB did not participate in the usual organised monthly ride. Instead on the 18th of August group member Mike Sanders organised an excellent and social lunch at the Moto Clube in Faro.
Algarve Senior Bikers were pleased to welcome Mark, Jorge and Peter from iMERGENCIES - ECDE International.
Espiche Golf celebrated its third anniversary on July 9th with a party for more than 220 guests and colleagues.
It was an occasion for Espiche to show its appreciation to its partners in the tourism business, its clients, club members, service providers and supplier for the ccontinuous support it has received since the early days.
THE Algarve Senior Bikers Summer ride took place on Tuesday 12th July and was organised by Brian (5th Gear) Evans with the assistance of new member, Rene van der Sanden.
Rene led the group from the meeting point in Paderne via some pretty back roads to the lovely village of Querenca for yet another return visit to Rosa's Cafe in the village square opposite the church. Always a popular watering hole for ASB riders.
On June 29th the Algarve Senior Bikers met near São Marcos de Serra and took the scenic route via São Teotonio to the West coast.
A short stop included to take in the coastal scenery from a view point near Picota on the way to Monchique. In Mochique a break for refreshments and to take time to meet new members joining the group for the first time.
The motorcycle riders of the Algarve Senior Bikers celebrated the 6th year of the group's existence on June 10th with a special lunch at Restaurante O Hamburgo, in Benafim.
Two groups, one from the west and one from east met in Lagos and São Brás de Alportel and followed different routes across the Algarve to meet in Benafim, north of Loule, for lunch.
