The Algarve summer arrives in full on Saturday’s solstice, the longest day of the year. The Algarve is settling into 27°C afternoons, warmer seas, and long, golden evenings that stretch past 9pm.
Book lovers are invited to celebrate the return of one of Lagos’ favourite literary events, as the 16th edition of the Book Fair (Mostra de Livros) takes place from 17th to 30th June at the historic Armazém Regimental, Praça do Infante, Lagos.
Mar d'Estórias marks ten years of activity with a programme of celebrations taking place from 15 to 19 June in Lagos. The festivities include wine tastings, presentations of Portuguese products, live music, and a cake-cutting ceremony that officially marks the anniversary.
The barbershop chorus Bella Acapella takes the stage at the Re-Criativa (Av. da República 14, Olhão) on Saturday the 27th of June, at 8:00 PM, for a special evening of music and good company.
The Algarve History Association´s ninth and last concert this season will take place at Quintinha da Música, at 17:00 on Sunday 21st June.
The Algarve in full Santos Populares mode: paper garlands strung across the alleys, basil pots on every windowsill, and the smoke of a thousand grills wafting into a warm 28°C evening. Friday to Sunday stays bright and dry, the sea finally swimmable, the nights soft enough to dance in the street until late.
